The Golf Club of Tennessee set to host 2028 Tennessee State Amateur

KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tenn. — Nestled in the stream valley of Brush Creek sits the highly renowned Golf Club of Tennessee, and future home to the Tennessee State Amateur.

The Tennessee Golf Association and The Golf Club of Tennessee have reached an agreement to add the course to the State Amateur rotation beginning in 2028, in addition to hosting other TGA events.

“We are really honored to have the opportunity to host the Tennessee State Amateur,” Dave Hensley, The Golf Club of Tennessee’s General Manager, said. “It has such a rich history in our state, and that's something we have tremendous respect for. Over the years, we have been fortunate to host a number of amateur events, and supporting amateur golf has always been important to us.  It's a great opportunity to showcase our Club, but more importantly, to celebrate amateur golf and the role it plays in the game we all love.”

The Golf Club of Tennessee has hosted elite golf tournaments since its opening in 1991, and will continue to do so into the future. The facility hosted the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur and is set to host the 2029 U.S. Mid-Amateur and 2034 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur. The club also hosted The Vinny Pro-Celebrity-Am, and from 2007-13, served as the site of the Franklin American Mortgage Charity Cup, hosted by PGA Tour and The Golf Club of Tennessee member Brandt Snedeker.

“The history of the Tennessee State Amateur is rich, and adding The Golf Club of Tennessee to the list of hosts will only enrich that history,” Executive Director Allison Brown said. “We could not be more excited to bring the State Amateur and more to Kingston Springs in 2028 and beyond.”

When the course opened in 1991, it was named one of the Best New Private Courses by Golf Digest. Designed by Tom Fazio, the vision was set out to create a “fine golf club” near Nashville. The Golf Club of Tennessee has since expanded, opening its newest 18-hole course, The Upper Course, in 2024, which was designed by Gil Hanse.
