The Scotty Junior Four-Ball a Tremendous Success

In 2020, the Tennessee Golf Foundation partnered with PGA TOUR player, Scott Stallings, to create a new, team oriented junior championship whose goal was to introduce junior golfers to another fun form of competitive golf.  The final product was The Scotty - Tennessee’s first ever junior four-ball championship.

The inaugural tournament was held August 28-30, 2020 at Oak Ridge Country Club in Oak Ridge, TN. A total of 39 teams (78 players) traveled from all across the state to participate in the championship. Upon arrival, players were treated to a fabulous players package and greeted by tournament host, Stallings.

The 2019 Tennessee Women’s Player of the Year and 2020 U.S. Women’s Amateur medalist, Rachel Heck was one of the notable players in the field. Rachel and her sister Anna teamed together in what would be Rachel’s final junior tournament of her storied junior golf career.

Day 1 served as a seeding round for the teams who were competing in four separate divisions: Boys Championship, Girls Championship, Boys 14 & Under and Boys 11 & Under. Following the seeding round, team’s competed in four-ball match play matches. The match play component of the competition exposed players to another unique, variable not typically found in competitive junior golf.

After two full days of exciting matches, Jackson Herrington and Evan Woosley-Reed captured the Boys Championship trophy, Rachel and Anna Heck took home top honors on the girl’s side, Bryce Harmon and Cooper Russell won the Boys 12-14 Division title and the team of Alex Miller and Casen Justice were victorious in the Boys 11 & Under Division.

A special thank you to Scott Stallings, the Cooper Container Corporation and Oak Ridge Country Club for their roles in what was an incredible inaugural championship. The 2021 Scotty Junior Four-Ball Championship is scheduled for July 14-16, 2021 at Oak Ridge CC.
