Bonnie Blackburn: Her Passion For Golf and Orange

Bonnie Blackburn (1917-2004) was an avid golfer for over half a century. Her enthusiasm and passion for the sport was known throughout Tennessee, particularly in the Knoxville area where she resided. She was involved not only with the Tennessee Golf Association, but also with the Knoxville Area Women's Golf Association and an avid follower of NCAA Women's Golf, especially rooting for the University of Tennessee Lady Vols. Bonnie funded the Bonnie Blackburn Girls Golf Fund which focuses on exposing and growing the game of golf to young women and annually provides most of the funds necessary to conduct the annual Bonnie Blackburn Girls Golf Fest.

Each year one Bonnie Blackburn Girls Golf Fest (BBGGF) camper is awarded the BBGGF Spirit Award which is given to a young golfer who has shown outstanding passion and excitement for the game of golf. The Tennessee Golf Association is proud to present this award at the Bonnie Blackburn Girls' Golf Fest to a young lady who embodies Bonnie's spirit, enthusiasm, and appreciation for both life and golf.

In 2010, the Tennessee Golf Association also started awarding a BBGGF camper with a full scholarship to the TPGA Junior Golf Academy at Golf House Tennessee.
