TGA releases the 2024 championship schedule
FRANKLIN, Tenn. — The new year brings a new slate of championships for Tennessee golfers across the state, including the introduction of four TGA championships as automatic qualifiers into USGA Championships.
“We’re looking to build off one of our best seasons and are excited for the changes coming in 2024,” Executive Director Allison Brown said. “With the addition of the automatic qualification into four USGA events this year, we look forward to how those elevate our events even further.”
Four TGA champions will have a chance to win a USGA championship as well because of updated qualifying rules from the USGA. In 2024, the Tennessee State Amateur, the Tennessee Women’s Amateur, and the Tennessee Boys’ and Girls’ Junior Amateur champions will be able to compete in the respective USGA championship. Those TGA championships need to be completed before qualifying closes for the national event so pay attention because the dates have changed from previous years.
The 109th Tennessee State Amateur is headed to Tennessee National in Loudon on June 11-14. This will be the second time Tennessee National has hosted a TGA event in three years, the first being the 2022 Tennessee Match Play Championship.
The following week, from June 18-20, the TGA will head to Belle Meade Country Club for the 92nd Tennessee Women’s Amateur. This is the sixth time Belle Meade has hosted the Women’s Amateur, but the first time since 1970. The course has a storied history with the Tennessee Golf Association hosting 13 State Amateurs, the most recent being in 2017.
The Senior-Super Senior Amateur will take place at the historic Memphis Country Club between August 20-22. It’s just the second time the course has hosted this specific event, though it’s hosted nine State Amateurs.
The Women’s Senior & Mid-Amateur Championships will head to the site of 2023 US Amateur Qualifying in Tennessee, Franklin Bridge Golf Club from September 17-18. This will be the first TGA Championship hosted by Franklin Bridge.
Jackson Country Club is set to host the 37th Tennesse Mid-Amateur Championship from September 12-14. This will be the course's second time hosting the event, the first time in 2012 when Todd Burgan won his second of four Mid-Amateur titles.
