Tennessee Golf Association Welcomes Chris Whitmore To Staff
FRANKLIN – The Tennessee Golf Association is excited to announce the addition of a new employee to begin the new year.
After serving the TGA through the USGA’s P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship Program in 2020, Chris Whitmore of Brentwood has been hired as our Manager, Tournament Operations.
Among Whitmore’s main responsibilities, he will be tasked with expanding the Association’s “non-championship” offerings, including the Nashville Pro-Am Series and the One-Day Series, as well as creating new events.
“The TGA has a great line-up of championship golf for our elite players,” said Chad Anderson, TGA Executive Director. “Chris will focus on creating playing opportunities for the 95 percent of our members who don’t compete in state championships.”
“Whether it is the one-day events that utilize a GHIN Handicap, playing in a fun event at one of our TGA member clubs, or something along the lines of a team event, Chris will be responsible for creating those opportunities.
Whitmore will also help the TGA’s Championship Tournament staff when available.
A native of Fayetteville, Tennessee, Whitmore and his wife, Courtney, live in Brentwood with their two daughters.
Whitmore spent nine months last year as an intern for the TGA, and gained vast experience with tournament operations by assisting Allison Brown, TGA Senior Director of Rules and Competitions, and Jeff Giedd, Director of Rules and Competitions.
Prior to that, he worked at Richland Country Club in Nashville from 2011-2019.
“Chris’ experience in running club events at Richland will be beneficial to the TGA’s membership,” Anderson added. “His experience as a Boatwright intern for the TGA will also pay dividends as he applies that to these new non-championship golf events.”
