Rodgers' family captures third Parent-Child title in two-hole playoff

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — Father’s Day weekend brought family, fun, and great competition to Stonehenge Golf Club for the 46th Tennessee Parent-Child Tournament. Played in a Stableford format, the event challenged teams to earn points based on how well they scored on each hole, rewarding good play while minimizing the penalty for a few bad holes. In this format, higher scores on the leaderboard are better, with points awarded for bogeys and better, and nothing for double bogey or worse.

Brandon and Bryan Rodgers gathered the spotlight in a gritty yet entertaining fashion, emerging as the overall champions after a thrilling two-hole playoff. It began on Hole 1 as Bailey and Scott McGaha took advantage of the extra stroke by Bryan Rodgers and forced another hole of play on 18. Sitting with the beautiful lake in front of the green, Bailey took her second shot in the fairway too far right to avoid the water and landed inside the bunker, which caused her and her father to fall strokes behind the Rodgers.

The victory marked their third Parent-Child title and their first since 2018. The Rodgers duo outlasted tough competition while making a late comeback, with a strong showing from the McGaha and McCann families, who were tied for the lead after Day 1 with 154 points.

The tournament's second round featured a shotgun start, giving all teams a chance to tackle the challenging layout all at once. Wind and occasional rain added to the difficulty, but the joyous family spirit shined; through unique matching outfits and competitive energy.

In addition to the overall champions, flight winners were also crowned:

  • Flight 1 Champions: Ryan and Charles McCann with 130 Stableford points

  • Flight 2 Champions: Randy and Deuce Wallace with 118 points

  • Flight 3 Champions: Christian and Gabe Jennings with 104 points

From solid drives to missed putts, shared tips to bursts of laughter, memories are made year after year—and this event once again proved why it's been a cherished tradition at Stonehenge for the past 17 years. In the 46-year history of the Parent-Child Tournament, one family has claimed perfect attendance throughout: the Crawfords. Mr. Rick Crawford and his family look forward to keeping the streak alive for years to come.
