Mouse Creek Golf Course Added to Kids Play Free Initiative

CHATTANOOGA (January 18, 2023)  – The Scott Stallings Kids Play Free Junior Golf Program is expanding once again.

Beginning in 2024, Mouse Creek Golf Course in Athens will join the Kids Play Free line-up of courses in the Chattanooga region which afford junior golfers complementary playing privileges.

Any junior age 14 and under will be able to play Mouse Creek at any time on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and after 2 p.m. on weekends (holidays not included).

"We are extremely excited to add a fourth course in the Chattanooga region, where junior golfers can have the opportunity to grow in the game without being burdened by cost," said Lamar Mills, the Tennessee Golf Foundation's regional director in Chattanooga.

"I want to give a big thank you to the ownership of Mouse Creek for supporting the Scott Stallings Kids Play Free Program for the benefit of kids in Athens and beyond."

Also participating in the Kids Play Free Program in the Chattanooga region are:

• Flagstone Golf Course (Cleveland): Juniors 14 & under, Monday-Friday

• Falcon Pointe Golf Club (Cleveland): Juniors 14 & under, Monday-Friday

• Bear Trace at Harrison Bay (Harrison): Juniors 14 & under after 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, nine holes only and must be accompanied by an adult.

These three courses started offering the Kids Play Free Program in April of 2023 and almost 500 rounds were played in 2023.

"We are so thankful for Scott and Jennifer Stallings and all they have done to support Kids Play Free in Tennessee," Tennessee Golf Foundation president Whit Turnbow said. "Lamar Mills has made great strides to expand the program in Chattanooga and we are excited to see it grow even further in the future."

"Thank you to the host facilities for their partnerships. They are having a tremendous impact on kids in the Chattanooga region who have a desire to learn the game but may not have the resources to do so."

Mouse Creek Golf Course - a par 64, executive course - is located at 1118 Congress Parkway N., Athens, TN  37303.  The phone number is (423) 453-5455.

The Kids Play Free Program was formed by the Tennessee Golf Foundation in 2015. At its inception, the program offered free rounds of golf to youth at Beverly Park Par 3 Golf Course in Knoxville. From 2015-2017, 2,351 free rounds of golf were played through the program.

In January 2018, three-time PGA Tour winner and Tennessee native Scott Stallings became involved in a rebranding effort of the program.  With Stallings and his wife Jennifer providing their time and resources to Kids Play Free, the program has since grown to over 12,000 rounds played per year.  It is also available at Beverly Park, Concord Park (Knoxville), The Patch (Oak Ridge), Bloomfield Links (Murfreesboro) and Bear Trace Cumberland Mountain (Crossville).
