Meet the 2024 TGA Interns

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — The Tennessee Golf Association is once again excited to welcome five USGA PJ Boatwright Interns to the team this summer. A quartet of Tennesseans and a Georgian make up the group in 2024, representing five different universities. Get to know each of them below:

Pj Barnes - Pj is the 6-month Tournament Operations Intern and hails from Crab Orchard, Tennessee and just graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech. He applied for the TGA’s internship program because he loves golf and wants to work in the golf industry. He will begin classes for his Master’s in the fall.

Dream Job: USGA Executive Leadership

Fun Fact: Graduated college at 20-years-old

Favorite TV Show: The Office

Alix Foy - Alix is one of the 3-month Tournament Operations Interns this summer. She is from Marietta, Georgia, but don’t worry, she bleeds Tennessee Orange. Alix is currently studying Sports Management at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She applied for the TGA internship because she wanted to learn more about the inner workings of golf and gain as much experience as possible.

Dream Job: Something in golf

Fun Fact: I have a twin sister

Favorite TV Show: Friday Night Lights

Lexi Humbert - Lexi is a Greeneville, Tennessee native and currently attends Emory & Henry College where she plays for the Women’s Golf team. This year, Lexi is serving as the TGA’s Women’s Golf intern for the summer. She applied for the TGA internship to further her knowledge in the golf Industry and to prepare her for a future role in the industry. Her love for the game started at the young age of seven. 

Dream Job: Work for a State Golf Association, the LPGA, or possibly even coaching college golf. Any job in the Golf Industry will be a blessing!

Fun Fact: I spoke with George W. Bush at a First Tee event at the prestigious The Olde Farm

Favorite TV Show: Stranger Things

Linden Palmer - Linden joins the TGA as a 3-month Tournament Operations intern from Lebanon, Tennessee and currently studies Sports Management at Middle Tennessee State University. He applied for the TGA’s internship program to get a great, hands-on experience on how a golf tournament operates.

Dream Job: General Manager for the Nashville Predators

Fun Fact: President of the MTSU Hockey Team

Favorite TV Show: Family Feud

Mitch Petrie - Mitch is the 3-month Communications and Marketing intern, coming to us locally from Franklin, Tennessee. He is a rising senior at the University of Alabama double-majoring in News Media with a concentration in Sports as well as Marketing. Mitch applied for the TGA internship because he recently fell in love with the game of golf in the past few years, and wanted to make connections in the golf world and see the inner workings of the game. 

Dream Job: Play-by-play broadcaster

Fun Fact: One time he lit his own face on fire (he’s totally fine now)
