Josh Shelton joins TGA as newest Communications Manager
FRANKLIN, Tenn. — The Tennessee Golf Association is happy to announce the newest
member of their staff, Josh Shelton. He joins the team as the manager of communications and
marketing.
Shelton returns to the golf industry after spending the last three years as a sports anchor and
reporter in Medford, Oregon. Before then, he worked for the American Junior Golf Association
as a communications intern.
His love for golf, however, dates much further back. His father, Jeff, has been a golf
professional for over 26 years and had Josh putting before he could stand on his own. Growing
up, Shelton spent his summers sharing his love for the game to youth golfers.
As he takes over communications for the TGA, Shelton hopes to combine his experience and
passion with the Tennessee golf community.
“I want to showcase the amazing stories the amateur golfers in Tennessee have and help
continue the TGA’s mission to grow the game,” Shelton said. “There’s so much to love about
golf and so many amazing golfers here, I will work to make sure your stories are told.”
Shelton, an Alexandria, Virginia native, studied journalism and telecommunications and minored
in history and graphic design at Ball State University. As a sports journalist, he’s covered
everything from high school football in small-town Indiana to Team USA curling’s gold-medal
run in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.
When he’s out playing golf, Shelton describes his game as “consistently inconsistent” but he still
has fun. As long as you give him a breakfast ball (or two) he can usually break 90… usually.
