Cooper wins second Tennessee Mid-Amateur title as TGA makes first trip to TPC SouthwindMatt Cooper came out on top of a three-person playoff to claim his second Tennessee Mid-Amateur championship. It marked the TGA's first trip to TPC Southwind, host of the WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

Two first-time TGA champions crowned at Tennessee Senior/Super Senior AmateurTim Dinwiddie won the Tennessee Senior Amateur title and Gene Lomax claimed the Super Senior crown at Tennessee Grasslands. It marked the first TGA titles for both competitors.

Johan Kok, PGA Secures Fourth Tn PGA Professional Championship FRANKLIN, Tenn. – After three days full of heat at Vanderbilt Legends Club, Johan Kok, PGA secured his fourth victory at the 52nd Tennessee PGA Professional Championship.

Although it almost broke one hundred degrees during play, round one brought an exciting match. Fairways & Greens Professionals Braxton Hunter, PGA and Walt Chapman, PGA finished the day tied for the lead. Hunter scored five birdies and an eagle while Chapman finished with five birdies to complete the round at four-under, 67. Just behind them at three-under, 68, Bobby Cochran, PGA of Colonial Country Club also finished with five birdies and an eagle to put him in the third place spot. 

Mackenzie Mack, PGA: A Leader in Golf & Voice for the Black CommunityThe fight for a better world isn’t an option for Mackenzie Mack. It’s a must. Outside of being a highly competitive golfer and well-respected instructor, she is making an impact in the lives of many through her role with the Tennessee Golf Foundation as the Associate Executive Director and West Tennessee Regional Director.

Tennessee Golf Foundation's Dick Horton inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame inducted Dick Horton as part of its 2020 class on August 29. 

Horton led golf initiatives in Tennessee for over 45 years. A native of Hamilton, New York, Horton previously served as the Executive Director of the Tennessee Section PGA and the Tennessee Golf Association and the Tennessee Golf Foundation, holding all three positions for 17 years. In his most recent role as President of the TGF, he has grown Tennessee’s collective golf organization’s assets from $3,500 in 1973 to $22 million today.

Jackson, Smith win Tennessee Four-Ball; Jackson increases his TGA record to 24 state titlesIn the illustrious career of Tennessee amateur golf legend Tim Jackson, one title had eluded him … until Friday afternoon.

Jackson teamed up with Craig Smith of Nashville to win the Tennessee Four-Ball Championship at Fox Den Country Club. It was the record 24th TGA state title for Jackson, but the first in this particular tournament.

Lawley, Ingram and Werhnyak crowned TGA champions at RichlandAfter two days of hot competition, the Tennessee Women’s Senior and Tennessee Women's Mid-Amateur has come to a close at Richland Country Club. Jesse Lawley successfully defended her Mid-Am title, while Sarah Ingram claimed the Senior Amateur crown. Darlene Werhnyak won the Super Senior division.

Clarksville's Kendall Maynard goes bogey-free the last 40 holes, wins Tennessee Girls' JuniorIf the rest of the field at the Tennessee Girls’ Junior Amateur was waiting on Kendall Maynard to make a mistake, it wasn’t going to happen this week. The Clarksville native and Belmont University commitment played the last 40 holes of the tournament without a single bogey. That consistency was key as she claimed the 2020 championship at Three Ridges Golf Course with a three-day total of 5-under, 211.

Franklin's Jack Morris finishes off record-breaking performance at Tennessee Junior AmateurThe sizable lead that Jack Morris built through the first two rounds of the Tennessee Junior Amateur was never in doubt Thursday afternoon. Entering the final day with a six-stroke cushion, the Franklin native increased the margin to as many as 10 strokes before finishing off a record-setting performance to win the 61st version of the championship at Three Ridges Golf Course.

Morris fires 63 at Tennessee Junior Am; Maynard leads girls into final roundJack Morris fired a career-best 9-under, 63 at Three Ridges on Wednesday to take a commanding lead in the Tennessee Junior Amateur. On the girls' side, Kendall Maynard shot a 68 to move to the top of the leaderboard.
