Will also oversee The First Tee Tennessee in Memphis as Associate Executive Director
The Tennessee Golf Foundation (TGF) announces the hiring of Mackenzie Mack, PGA & LPGA, as its new Regional Director in West Tennessee and Associate Executive Director for The First Tee of Tennessee in Memphis, effective Monday, April 8, 2019.
“We are thrilled to have Mackenzie joining our team and can’t wait to see The First Tee programming return to Memphis. We are so thankful for the City of Memphis and Mickey Barker who have been tremendous partners in this project that will affect so many of our youth in West Tennessee,” said Whit Turnbow, President of the Tennessee Golf Foundation.
Mackenzie will have a dual role for the TGF in West Tennessee, as Regional Director, working with stakeholders in promoting the game across the area. She will also oversee operations at The First Tee of Tennessee in Memphis, bringing The First Tee program and its life skills curriculum back to Memphis as Associate Executive Director. Programming will take place at Whitehaven Golf Course and expand to other locations in the future.
“Memphis is so happy to have Mackenzie Mack become our new leader of The First Tee of Tennessee in Memphis. She brings with her an incredible resume and a passion for the game that will certainly inspire many,” said PGA TOUR champion and long-time Memphis resident and The First Tee supporter Loren Roberts.
Mackenzie brings an extensive background in golf to the position. As a Golfweek Magazine Top 100 Junior golfer in Nevada, she received a full scholarship to play college golf at Indiana State University (ISU) while graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors with a marketing major. She stayed at ISU to get her MBA in Business Administration, which she earned in 2011. She received her PGA and LPGA status after college.
As a teacher, Mackenzie was most recently the Senior Program Director for the First Tee of Tampa Bay, a program that reaches over 70,000 students each year. She developed a new affordable junior golf tour, created a curriculum to teach golf to middle school students in Hillsborough County, and brought an additional Drive, Chip, and Putt regional qualifier to Tampa Bay.
"I am looking forward to joining the Tennessee Golf Foundation team and excited about working with them and the Memphis community to elevate Memphis junior golf to new heights. My #1 goal is to grow the game of golf so that everyone can experience all it has given to me and all it has to offer,” said Mackenzie.
