2009 City of Crossville State Team Championship Honoring Bobby Nichols

The 2009 City of Crossville State Team Championship Honoring Bobby Nichols

concluded today after a two hour and thirty six min rain delay. The 36 hole tournament featuring both PGA Professionals and Amateurs from all over the state competed in a team division along with individual divisions for: Regular Professionals, Senior Professionals, Regular Amateurs, and Senior Amateurs.

In the team division first round leaders Kelvin Burgin/Dale Wheeler/Tracy Graham/Brian Dailey shot a second round 61 (-11 under par) for a two day total of 120 (-24 under par) to win by one stroke over Eric Rebmann/Jason Gandy/John Fox/Chase Carroll and Audie Johnson/Casey Moore/Nick Garretson/Doug Harris.

First round leader Buddy Harston head golf coach at Lipscomb University was able to hold onto his lead with a second round 70 (-2 under par) to win by 5 strokes over local PGA Professional Kelvin Burgin from Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain.  Harston said that Lake Tansi Country Club reminded him a lot of the courses he use to play in Kentucky and fit his game well.

In the Senior Professional division Mark Houser PGA Professional from Warrior’s Path was able to edge out Randy Helton PGA Professional from Riverbend Country Club to win by one stroke.  This tournament is particularly special to Mark as he was long time friends with Bobby Nichols.

Congratulations to Tracy Graham from Crossville, TN and Mitch Hufstetler for winning the regular amateur division and the senior amateur division.  Special thanks go out to Aubrey King Head Professional at Lake Tansi Country Club for hosting the event and Mayor JH Graham and the City of Crossville for sponsoring this great event.
