CROSSVILLE, TENN (July 28th, 2017) After an opening round 69, first round leader Samantha Troyanovich felt like she had the opportunity to go even lower. It certainly looked like Troyanovich was going to do just that after a quick start Friday morning. After starting on No. 10, she birdied No. 12 for the second consecutive day. The Tulane graduate successfully navigated the signature par-3 14th hole, sliding in a 20-footer in for birdie to get to two-under through five, and five-under for the championship. Troyanovich’s four shot lead turned into a three-shot lead after a bogey on No. 16.

Despite multiple quality chances at birdie from inside 15 feet, the professional from Florida could not get another birdie putt to drop. Troyanovich made another bogey on No. 5 to fall back to even-par for the second round. On her final hole, well after the rain had started to fall at Stonehenge, Troyanovich had a challenging up-and-down to stay at even-par. A marvelous chip left her with a tap in par for a 72. Troyanovich will have a two-shot lead entering the final round. Earlier this month Troyanovich turned in a final round five under-par 67 at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. A final round of that caliber will make her difficult to catch Saturday.

The round of the day was turned in by Sarah Hoffman. After an opening round 75, Hoffman jumped back into contention with a four-under-par 68, the lowest round of the championship. A bogey-free round that featured four birdies leaves the professional from Grand Valley State University alone in second place entering the final round.  The low amateur destination is currently shared by Nadia White and Elsa Moberly. White fired a three-under-par 69 to get to one-over-par for the championship. Moberly has rounds of 72-73. In addition to being the low amateurs, White and Moberly are tied for third place.

The field has been cut to the low 60 players. The cut line fell at 14-over-par 158. Play will begin on Nos. 1 & 10 at 8:00 a.m. Follow @tngolf for live coverage down the stretch.

Senior Division

First round leader Veronica Karaman entered the final round with a five-shot lead. While most of her competitors were slowed by the wet conditions Friday, Karaman carded an even-par 72 to win the Golf Capital of Tennessee Women’s Open Senior Division by 13 shots. “It has been a long time since I have won anything in golf. It is great to be able to come up here and compete in a senior division. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers for making it happen,” Karaman said while accepting the trophy. Coming in second place and finishing as the low amateur was Jean Kraft. Rounding out the top three was Lynda Wimberly.

About the Tennessee Golf Association

In 1914, the Tennessee Golf Association (TGA) was organized at Memphis Country Club as an association of five private clubs. The objective of the Association, as stated in its Constitution, "shall be to promote the game of golf in Tennessee." From these small origins the TGA has become an association which now includes over 200 member clubs, courses, and organizations, comprised of over 32,000 individuals from across the state.
