SOUTH COLLEGE BECOMES PRESENTING SPONSOR OF THE SNEDS TOUR
New partnership will help keep junior competitive golf affordable and accessible
The Tennessee Golf Foundation (TGF) along with The Snedeker Foundation is excited to announce a two-year partnership with South College to help keep the Sneds Tour affordable and accessible to junior golfers.
The 2019 season will mark the 27th year the TGF has operated a junior golf tour. PGA Tour professional and Nashville native Brandt Snedeker started his junior golfing career on the tour, when it was called the Nortel Tour. Brandt attributes some of his success today to having an affordable tour to play competitively on growing up. In 2015, when the TGF was looking for a title sponsor for the tour, Brandt, his wife, Mandy and their foundation stepped up and partnered with the TGF to create the Sneds Tour.
“South College is the first presenting sponsor of the Sneds Tour and I couldn’t be more excited to have them on board,” Snedeker said. “With our 1,500 + families involved annually, the South College/Sneds Tour partnership is a great fit, giving those families the opportunity to play golf at a reasonable price while learning the game’s life-enhancing values.”
The Sneds Tour is the statewide junior golf tour in Tennessee, operated by the TGF that is open to ages 4 – 19. The tour is comprised of over 1,500 members each season who compete in over 140 events March thru October. The tour had 7,425 rounds played in its 143 events last season.
“The TGF is incredibly honored to have South College aboard as the presenting sponsor of the Sneds Tour,” said TGF president Whit Turnbow. “Since 1882, South College’s mission has been to impact lives, and that mantra fits perfectly with Brandt and Mandy’s vision for the Sneds Tour. Accessible and affordable opportunities for our youth to compete, connect to the game and the core values that come along with it, we believe, can be life changing.”
Founded in 1882, South College is a regionally accredited private co-educational academic institution with non-residential campuses in Knoxville and Nashville, TN; Asheville, NC and Atlanta, GA. South College also offers courses online. Students at South College can pursue academic programs at all levels, including associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
“South College is honored to be the presenting sponsor of the Sneds Tour in partnership with the Tennessee Golf Foundation and The Snedeker Foundation,” said Nashville Campus president Nick South. “Brandt and Mandy’s vision for the tour as an introduction to competitive golf is something that mirrors South College’s vision and mission for impacting change in a student’s life. We believe this partnership will continue to provide accessible and affordable opportunities for youth to connect to the game, while learning core values that will ultimately enhance the pursuit of their educational dreams.”
