The second round of the 55th annual Tennessee Boys’ Junior Amateur concluded at Stones River Country Club on Wednesday, and there is a crowded leaderboard heading into the final day.
Two players are currently tied for first place, including opening-round leader A. Jacks Green and recent Maryville High School graduate Matt Copeland.
Both turned in higher scores than their first round. Green, who won the TSSAA Division II individual state title for Christ Presbyterian School back in the fall, went 68-76 for a 144 total, while Copeland – a Wofford College signee – was 71-73.
Clarksville’s Cameron Tankersley tied for the second-best score of the round with a 71 and currently sits tied for third, one stroke back. Co-first round leader Bryce Lewis, who is headed to Middle Tennessee State University, is also at 145.
Jake Hall, another MTSU signee, was the only player in the field to shoot under par on Wednesday, carding a 70 to go with his opening-round 76. He is tied for fourth with Collierville’s Ethan Ray (69-77) and Clarksville’s Wyatt Samuels (72-74).
Tied for eighth are Franklin’s William Rieck (76-71) and Maryville’s Braedon Wear (72-75).
There are a total of 22 players within seven strokes of the lead.
