LEBANON, TENN (August 16th, 2017) Danny Green finished the first round on a sour note, with back to back bogeys. Green immediately got those strokes back with an opening eagle on No. 1 during the final round of stroke play qualifying for the Senior Match Play Championship. Green followed the eagle with nine straight pars before birdies on Nos. 11 and 13 got the Jackson native to eight-under-par for the championship. Five more pars coming home gave Green a bogey free four-under-par 68 to match his opening round 68.

Jeff Golliher, who also closed the opening round with a bogey on No. 18, carded nothing but pars on his opening nine. Golliher, who posted a five-under-par 67 in the first round birdied Nos. 10, 13 and 14 to get to eight-under-par overall. The Knoxville native also parred the final five holes to match Green’s eight-under-par 36-hole total and share medalist honors. Golliher won the draw giving him the No. 1 seed. Two players who made the Tennessee Amateur Match Play Championship bracket, Tim Jackson and Stuart Smith, made the 16-person Senior bracket as well. Defending champion Bob Rice will look to defend his title as the No. 9 seed.

Super Senior

The super senior division stroke play qualifying was controlled by Dan Schorsten. After being the only super senior to break par during round one, Schorsten matched his three-under-par 69 from round one to claim medalist honors at six-under-par. The Hendersonville resident will be the No. 1 seed in the match play bracket. Dr. Neil Spitalny earned the No. 2 seed after a one-under-par 71. The highlight of the day was a hole-in-one from Ed Link. There was a three-for-one playoff at nine-over-par. Frank Dial won the playoff, earning the No. 8 seed.
