Senior Four-Ball Scoring and Match Times
Close matches were the theme of the morning at the Senior
Four-Ball Championship. Three of the four quarterfinal matches went the
distance. Mike Poe and Bob Rice captured a 1up victory and the
right to face Tim Jackson and Buzz Fly in the semifinals. Jackson and
Fly also won 1up in the quarterfinals. This
match was a finals rematch from 2016. The two teams went back and forth unable
to build a lead bigger than 1up until Poe/Rice won back to back holes on Nos.
12-13 to take a two-up lead. Poe/Rice held
on to return to the finals with a 2&1 victory.
On the other side of the bracket Bryan Rodgers and Ron Waters
picked up a 1up victory. Waiting for them in the semifinals were three time
champions Danny Green and Steve Golliher. Green/Golliher, who won
their first match 4&2, were the only team to close out their quarterfinal
match before No. 18. The three time champions continued their impressive play
in the semifinals. Golliher holed out from the bunker on No. 15 to seal the
match against Rodgers/Waters 4&3 to get back to the championship match. The
championship match will be a rematch of a semifinal from last year. The team of
Poe/Rice is the only team to defeat Green/Golliger in the last four years.
